Assessment

A psychological assessment is a thoughtful, in‑depth exploration of how a person is functioning in a particular area of life. The goal is to bring clarity—whether that means understanding learning strengths, identifying emotional or cognitive patterns, or answering specific questions about behavior or performance.

I use a carefully selected combination of standardized tests, questionnaires, and structured activities to evaluate skills, abilities, and underlying processes. These tools help paint a detailed picture of how someone thinks, learns, and navigates the world. Assessments are collaborative and transparent, and I take time to explain each step so the process feels supportive, respectful, and genuinely useful.

Some assessments I provide are:

Psychoeducational Evaluations
These evaluations help understand why someone has problems learning or achieving in school. They include testing of cognitive abilities and academic achievement and are useful in diagnosing Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Learning Disabilities.

They are often needed to request special accommodations for standardized testing, such as the SAT, ACT, GMAT, MCAT, etc.
U-Visa / Asylum Evaluations
Psychological evaluations are often helpful to document impairment or the effects of negative events in a person's life. Reports for these evaluations can help court proceedings.
Pre-Surgical Clearance
Some surgeries, such as gender-affirming surgery or bariatric surgery, require a psychological assessment before the procedure can take place. Pre-surgical evaluations can determine readiness for the procedure as well as establish a rationale for it.
Psychodiagnostic Assessment
These evaluations provide an in-depth view of an individual's emotional life, thinking styles, and personality. They can be helpful to obtain a mental health diagnosis. They can be helpful to guide therapists when treatment has stalled.
Neuropsychological Assessment
These evaluations assess for functioning that is associated with brain changes. They can help quantify damage due to a stroke or traumatic brain injury. They can also help diagnose dementia and determine impairment
